I love the story my dad used to tell us about her wedding day. She was Italian and Catholic, and in love with a Greek Orthodox man (my uncle). Naturally, the marriage was forbidden, so they had to keep it a secret.

My dad was a little kid—and a loud mouth (not shocking)—so on the day of the wedding, he got all dressed up and was told he was going to a funeral. When he got there and realized his favorite aunt was actually getting married, he cried because he said he wanted to marry her when he grew up 🥹

How’s that for a hopeless romantic?

Each piece comes in a pouch made from upcycled fabric, sewn by Mercedes in Yonkers – who I met at a church flea market – how very on brand of me;)
